Bill has come to the trombone rather late in life, at the prompting of his younger daughter to “find a hobby to fill his newly acquired spare time now his children have left home”. Playing the trombone was always a bit of a secret ambition, so when friends suggested joining the Malvern Chase Brass Band, he jumped at the chance. Now playing bass trombone in the brass band (mainly because he can read bass clef, having learned the piano in his youth), he’s wishing he’d started years ago – the trombone is so much fun! Branching out into Jazz with the Malvern Big Band has been a revelation so he’s hoping to make up for lost time. Outside of music Bill is a very keen dinghy sailor and instructor.
